Santa Clara Athletics Announces Staff Additions

SANTA CLARA, Calif. - Santa Clara Athletics announced the addition of five new full-time staff members who all recently began their duties.

• Nick Combo, Academic Advisor
• Peter Fields, Senior Associate Athletic Director for Development
• Jeremy Golden, Director, Sports Performance
• Zac Harris, Assistant Driector, Sports Performance
• Ben Perez-Pringle, Assistant Director, Sports Medicine

In addition, Chris Mendoza was promoted to assistant AD for facilities and operations and Lane Marchetti assumed his role as assistant director of the unit. Josh Gray, a former men's basketball student manager, is serving as an academic advisor on a temporary basis.

Combo provides academic advising and mentoring to student-athletes, while monitoring their NCAA eligibility. Prior to being hired at Santa Clara, Combo spent two years as a football academic mentor at UCLA.

Fields spent the last 14 years as Director of Athletics at Montana State University. His work has been recognized as outstanding on a national level. He was named the NACDA FCS West Region Athletic Director of the Year for in 2011, and received the 2007 General Robert R. Neyland Outstanding Athletic Director Award from the All-America Football Foundation.

Golden has experience at other Division I programs such as Providence and Cornell, and has worked in the WNBA and the NBA Development League implementing strength and conditioning programs for athletes.

Harris arrived at Santa Clara after working for Real Salt Lake Soccer Club as a sport performance fellow. Prior to his time with Real Salt Lake, Harris worked for the University of Utah as a strength and conditioning coach where he worked specifically with men's lacrosse.

Perez-Pringle was a certified athletic trainer and strength and conditioning coach at Professional Physical Therapy/Professional Athletic Performance Center in New York since 2014 before joining the Broncos. He also has experience working in the NBA with the Portland Trailblazers. Perez-Pringle received his M.S. in kinesiology in 2014 from San Francisco State.
