SANTA CLARA, Calif. – The Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) announced their Broncos of the Month for January. The Andrew Gu of men's tennis and Taylor Berry of women's basketball picked up the honors.
Gu picked up five wins at the East Coast Challenge in West Point, N.Y. in the Broncos Spring season opener. Gu won all three matches at No. 1 singles against Yale, Florida Atlantic, and Army while also collecting doubles wins with Robert Seby against Yale and Army. He finished off his hot month with victories to lead Santa Clara to 7-0 wins over Holy Names, Sonoma State, and UC Santa Cruz.
The Broncos are back on the court Sunday, Feb. 11 at 11 a.m. against New Mexico at the Degheri Tennis Center.
Berry helped lead Santa Clara to wins over Portland, San Diego, and Pepperdine during the month while pushing her consecutive games started streak to 95. In the victory over the Toreros, Berry scored a career-high 20 points and against Saint Mary's registered a double-double (10 points/13 rebounds).
Santa Clara returns to action Thursday at 7 p.m. against BYU in Leavey Center.
