May SAAC Broncos of the Month Announced

SANTA CLARA, Calif. – Santa Clara Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) announced the Bronco of the Month for May. Kelsie Barnard of softball and Jack Davidson and Zach Litoff of men's track & field brought home the honors.

Barnard had a red hot month of May, hitting .391 with a .440 on-base percentage, helping her capture First Team All-WCC honors. The senior had a hit in all but one game on the month while driving in four runs and scoring three. In the final game of the year, Barnard came through with a walk-off single to give the Broncos a 4-3 Senior Day win over BYU.

Davidson set a pair of program records in the final two meets of the regular season, a 5,000-meter 14:00.91 at the Payton Jordan Invitational and a 1,500-meter 3:45.02 at the Occidental Invitational. He became the first Bronco men's runner to qualify for the NCAA West Regional Meet at each of those distances and the first men's runner to qualify for multiple events in the same postseason. The Denver native took 29th place at 1,500 meters to come within two seconds of qualifying for the quarterfinals and 25th place at 5,000 meters to come within six seconds of qualifying for the national championship meet.

Litoff qualified for the NCAA West Regional Meet in the 3,000-meter steeplechase. He took 6th place in the heat and 20th place overall with an 8:50.87, coming within eight seconds of a berth in the national championship meet. Litoff and Davidson's efforts in 2019 marked the first time that multiple men's runners qualified for the regional meet in the same season.
