Broncos of the Month for February Announced

SANTA CLARA, Calif. – Jake MacNichols of baseball and Sammy Needham of softball were named the SAAC Broncos of the Month for February.

MacNichols belted six home runs and drove in 17 runs with a .681 slugging percentage over 12 games to lead Santa Clara baseball to an 8-4 record in February. 

He was named Collegiate Baseball's National Players of the Week and Rawlings West Coast Conference Player of the Week with a four homer, 11 RBI effort in the season opening four-game series sweep of San José State.

Needham hit .440 for the month with a .508 on-base percentage and a .540 slugging percentage. She hit five doubles, scored 12 runs, and drove in 10 while swiping three bags in as many attempts.

The junior was named the WCC Player of the Week on February 17 after the Highlander Classic at UC Riverside that saw the Broncos go 3-1. Needham hit .692/.733/.923 with three doubles, two walks, four RBIs, and five runs scored. She had three mutli-hit games, including three hits in each of the first two. In the weekend's first game, an 8-4 win, she drove in three runs with two doubles.
