Athletics Has Historic Day of Giving

SANTA CLARA, Calif. – The numbers have been tabulated and Santa Clara Athletics set a record on Day of Giving.

On April 6, the Broncos led all Santa Clara University departments with 1,983 total gifts and an incredible $1,000,123 raised, which will have a transformational impact on Bronco student-athletes while supporting each of our 20 sports, the Bronco Bench Foundation, and Bronco Athletic Fund.

Santa Clara Law was second in total dollars raised with $600,659 and the Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Initiatives and Scholarships was No. 2 in number of donations with 514.

The total amount raised for Athletics was a record-breaking mark and an 89-percent increase from last year ($526,833). The record for Santa Clara Athletics prior to 2022 was $866,575 set in 2020. The 1,983 total donations is also a new record, breaking the previous mark set in 2020 as well.

"Wow, what an amazing day for Santa Clara Athletics! Bronco Nation answered the call and showed their support for our student-athletes with record results," director of athletics Renee Baumgartner said. "Day of Giving is a very significant effort each year for our department and we're incredibly grateful for our amazing alums, donors, friends and family who made a huge impact on our student-athletes by participating. Stampede Ahead, Stampede Together, Go Broncos!"

Among the school's sports, women's rowing led the way in total dollars raised ($70,765), while women's water polo had the largest number of donations (281).
