Nick Combo is in his third year as academic advisor for Santa Clara athletics. He provides academic advising and mentoring to student-athletes, while monitoring their NCAA eligibility. He is the academic adivsor for men's soccer, men's and women's water polo, women's rowing, volleyball, men's and women's cross country/track, and softball.

Prior to being hired at Santa Clara, Combo spent two years as a football academic mentor at UCLA. During his time with the Bruins, Combo designed and implemented individualized academic support plans for a diverse caseload of high-risk student-athletes among several other support-related roles. 

A former NCAA student-athlete, Combo pitched for the baseball team at Whitworth University in Spokane, Wash. The Pirates reached the 2012 NCAA Division III World Series and finished in sixth place. Combo played baseball, basketball and football at Lake City High School in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho. 

His other experience in sports includes working in a variety of capacities for Pac-12 Networks in broadcast production (2014-16) and serving as an American Legion Baseball head coach for the Trail Jays (2010-13). From 2012-14, Combo worked as a Psychosocial Rehabilitation Specialist for the Family Support Services of North Idaho.

Combo graduated from Whitworth in 2012 with a B.A. in Psychology along with minors in Sociology and Political Science. He received his M. Ed. in Administration, Intercollegiate Athletic Leadership Development from the University of Washington in 2017. Combo is a member of the National Association of Academic Advisors for Athletics and the National Association of Athletic Compliance.
