The Santa Clara Boat House at Lexington Reservoir

The Santa Clara Boat House at Lexington Reservoir

The Santa Clara Rowing teams practice on the Lexington Reservoir in Los Gatos, Calif.

The current boathouse has been in use since the late 1990s when it replaced the previous structure which was lost in a fire. SCU shares the facility with the Los Gatos Rowing Club.  The boathouse is home to dozens of racing shells, from single sculls and pairs to the eights used for collegiate racing.

SCU crews enjoy the use of Lexington Reservoir under an agreement with the Santa Clara County Parks, and are incredibly privileged in this regard. The reservoir is sheltered in the foothills of the Santa Cruz mountains, just south of the town of Los Gatos, Calif.  Approximately 3000m of water is navigable year round, with glassy calm waters the norm and boat traffic limited to that of the rowing teams.  With a 2000m race course surveyed and no current to speak of, the reservoir provides an ideal training facility for the Broncos training and racing.
