PORTLAND, Ore. — Santa Clara track concluded its 2015 regular season Sunday at Eldon Fix Track as part of the Portland Twilight Meet. Graduate student Kurt Ruegg posted the second-fastest 5000 meter time of his career, which was also his fastest time with the Broncos, by running a 14:36.70 as one of four Santa Clara runners to compete in the event.
"I thought that everyone looked pretty good in Portland. We didn't have any breakout races, but performances were solid across the board," head coach Felipe Montoro said. "It was great to see our seniors who competed give it their best one last time in a Bronco uniform."

Coach Montoro: "Amia Nash and Meg Webber were in a heat that got out ridiculously fast, and they handled themselves really well."
Women's 1500 Meters: Hannah Wood 4:42.19, Audrey Hiatt 4:57.14
Coach Montoro: "Audrey Hiatt also had a great effort in her final race for SCU. She really did her best and it was a special moment for her."
Men's 1500 Meters: Joey Berriatua 3:51.06
Women's 5000 Meters: Mary Kriege 17:54.51, Kelly Ryan 17:54.55
Men's 5000 Meters: Kurt Ruegg 14:36.70, Ryan Greenough 15:16.50, Andrew Melendez 15:25.83, Tony Ferrari 15:51.28
Coach Montoro: "Kurt Ruegg was very competitive in his race.
"Tony Ferrari also found himself in a fast race and once again was tough as nails."
COACH MONTORO ON POSTSEASON
"We will keep our fingers crossed, but more than likely Mary Kriege and Graysee Murphy will be just outside of making the NCAA regional in Austin, Texas. They had tremendous seasons, setting school records and nearly being the first women in SCU history to qualify for national competition on the track. Both are back next year, so they can give it another shot."
