SACRAMENTO, Calif. — Three-event school record holder Mary Kriege nearly added a fourth program-best time to her ledger for Santa Clara track & field at Saturday's Hornet Invitational. She ran a personal best 4:34.82 in the women's 1500m race and almost set the program's new fastest mark in the process.

The redshirt senior's time at Hornet Track was 0:0.74 shy of Allie Sibole's 4:34.08 in 2012. Kriege holds program records in the 3000m, 5000m and 10000m races.

Women

Kriege's performance was good for 14th place, the highest finish for the Broncos on the day.  Hannah Wood led Santa Clara with a 2:25.12 in the 800m race; Marisa Rudolph ran in the event for the first time in her collegiate career. Elsa Valenzuela competed in the 1500m event for the first time this season.

Men

Ross Corey ran in the 800m for the third time this season, and posted his best mark in the event with a 1:56.49. Jean-Baptiste Tooley and Andrew Melendez took part in the 1500m event and Matt Burke was the lone Bronco to run in the 5000m event.

Next Event

The Broncos will run at two of their first big events of the season — the Stanford Invitational and San Francisco State Distance Carnival — on Friday, April 1.
