SANTA CLARA, Calif. — Santa Clara track & field heads down to Southern California Thursday and Friday to compete in the Mt. SAC Relays and Bryan Clay Invitational. The team is traveling 13 runners, 11 of whom will compete twice between the two days.
The Broncos are slated to run in 10 different events across five distances from 800m to 10000.
Thursday
Women's 3000m Steeplechase (Mt. SAC): Grayson Murphy
Men's 5000m (Bryan Clay): Andrew Melendez, Evan Misuraca, Will Burschinger
Women's 5000m (Bryan Clay): Heather LaPlante, Julia Wood
Men's 10000m (Mt. SAC): Bryan Crook
Murphy will run the Steeplechase for the second time this season; she finished less than nine seconds shy of her school record 10:41.68 at the Kum Duyst Invitational in March. Crook is set for his first 10000m run on the track since 2014; the only other time he competed at that distance was also at Mt. SAC.
Friday

Women's 1500m (Bryan Clay): Grayson Murphy, Heather LaPlante, Kaitlyn Kuehn, Julia Wood
Men's 5000m (Mt. SAC): Bryan Crook
Women's 5000m (Mt. SAC): Mary Kriege
Corey, Sargent, Stalun and Tooley will all doubll up as part of a busy Friday stretch. On the women's side, LaPlante has set personal best marks in each of her last two races — 1500m at the Kim Duyst Invitational and 5000m at the San Francisco State Distance Carnival. Kuehn will compete in the 1500m for the 15th time as a Bronco while Wood will race for the second and third times in her college career.
