Bronco Harriers Complete Season at NCAA West Regionals

FRESNO, Calif. - The Santa Clara University cross country teams wrapped up their seasons at the NCAA West Regional Championships in Fresno, Calif. on Saturday afternoon. Fresno State hosted the meet at Woodward Park.

The SCU men's team finished 19th out of 21 teams, while the Bronco women placed 25th out of 28 teams. The Stanford Cardinal claimed victories in both the men's and women's races.

For the men, the Broncos competed in their first 10K of the season. Junior John Hinman was Santa Clara's top finisher on the men's side. The Bend, Ore. native placed 104th in a time of 33:40.

Junior Chris Doerhoff placed 110th with a 10,000-meter mark of 33:58. Freshman Michael Delaurenti concluded his impressive freshman campaign, as he finished 115th with a time of 34:12.

Omar Ahmad ran a time of 34:35 to place 122nd, while Nick Arcelona finished 126th in a time of 34:47. Freshman Andrew Blumel rounded out the SCU competitors, as he placed 132nd in a time of 35:25.

Two seniors closed out the Bronco careers on a high note as Katie Hansen and Robin Bell led the way for the SCU women. Hansen, a native of Lake Forest, Calif., placed 117th in a time of 23:20. Meanwhile, Bell finished 132nd with a 6,000-meter time of 23:34.

Sophomore Blossom Marimpietri posted a time of 23:28 to place 138th, while Kiley Strong finished 142nd with a time of 23:41. Freshmen Ann Thomas and Adriane Puetz had solid showings in their first NCAA Regional meet as they placed 143rd and 151st, respectively. Tara Rooney rounded out the Bronco runners, as she placed 176th in a time of 25:11.
