15 Broncos Earn WCC All-Academic Honors

WCC Fall All-Academic Release Get Acrobat Reader

SANTA CLARA, Calif. - The West Coast Conference announced its 2008 Fall All-Academic Team today. Santa Clara led with 15 student-athletes representing the five fall sports.

Men's and women's cross country led the way for the Broncos with four players each. Junior John Laughlin and sophomores Christopher Mosier, Robert Reid and Chris Sampson earned a spot on the team on the men's side, while seniors Noelle Lopez and Whitney Porter, and juniors Annie Murphy-Hagan and Stephanie Wilson earned a spot on the women's side.

Men's soccer juniors Jeff Cosgriff and Ross Smith, along with senior Brian Martin were also named to the team. Senior Anna Cmaylo and junior Lindsy Davigeadono represented the volleyball team, and junior Kiki Bosio and Katherine Reynolds from women's soccer rounded out the honorees.

It was a first time honor for Laughlin, Mosier, Reid, and Sampson. The quartet was a part of the team that finished fourth at the WCC Championship in November. Reid was also a All-WCC first team recipient.

Noelle Lopez led all honorees with a 3.99 GPA.


Murphy-Hagan earned the honor for the second time this year, while teammates Lopez, Porter and Wilson all earn their first spot on the prestigious list. Wilson also received All-WCC first team honors from the league. In November, Lopez was recently named Santa Clara's first female Rhodes Scholar. They all contributed to the third place finish at the WCC championships last November.

Cosgriff, Martin and Smith each make their first appearance on the All-Academic list. The trio also earned NSCAA/adidas All-Far West Scholar Athlete honors, while Cosgriff was an All-WCC Honorable Mention and Martin was named to ESPN the Magazine's Academic All-District VIII first team.

Cmaylo and Davigeadono were also first-time recipients. A three-time All-American, Cmaylo was also named to the ESPN the Magazine's Academic All-District VIII third team and Davigeadono earned All-WCC Honorable Mention honors this past season.

Bosio earned her second consecutive appearance on the list while also earning a spot on the All-WCC first team. Reynolds' made her first appearance on the all-academic team while also being named to the All-WCC second team.
