  • SCU 1 of Just 2 WCC Schools to Receive NCAA Public Recognition Award Eight Straight Years; 4 Bronco Teams Honored This Year

    Santa Clara University was joined by Gonzaga University as the only two school’s from the West Coast Conference to earn Public Recognition Awards, based on their most recent multi-year Academic Progress Rate. The Public Recognition Award was given to 61 schools who placed at least one team on the list each of the past eight years. These awards are given each year to teams with APRs in the top 10 percent plus ties in each sport. In addition, this year four Bronco teams were honored for their APR's: women's tennis, women's outdoor track, women's rowing and women's water polo.
  • Oliver Named To CoSIDA Academic All-American All-District List

    Fresh off finishing 17th at the NCAA West Region Outdoor Track Championships in the 10,000m May 23, Bronco senior Kevin Oliver has been named to the Capital One CoSIDA All-District Academic All-American list. Oliver's name will now be forwarded as a national nominee.
  • Ashley Armstrong of Women's Basketball Named Valedictorian, Kevin Oliver Also Honored

    Showing yet again that Santa Clara student-athletes are just as much students as they are athletes, Ashley Armstrong of women’s basketball was named the Valedictorian of the class of 2013. Armstrong has already been accepted to Cambridge University to get her Masters of Philosophy beginning in the fall.
  • Trackster Oliver Feels The Bronco Love

    After Santa Clara senior trackster Kevin Oliver finished 17th in the 10,000m Thursday night at the NCAA West Region Championship, he was quick to pay homage to his Bronco teammates back on the Mission Campus and the three who came to Austin to see him run: Haley Ney, Marcos Hinojosa and Adrian Hinojosa as well as his coaches, Bronco head coach Felipe Montoro and assistant coach Peter Cushman. It's easy to understand why.
  • Oliver Finishes 17th At NCAA West Region Track Championships

    Santa Clara senior Kevin Oliver, just the second-ever to qualify for the NCAA Outdoor Regional Championships, finished 17th with a time of 30:40.74 at the University of Texas late Thursday night. The top 12 advance to the NCAA Championships in Eugene, Ore. next week.
  • Oliver Qualifies For NCAA West Region 10K! Double-Major Carries 3.97 GPA As SCU's Second-Ever NCAA Track Qualifier

    Proving to be a college student first with a 3.97 grade point average as a double major, Santa Clara senior trackster Kevin Oliver became just the second-ever NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Preliminary qualifier today. Oliver, who ran a personal best 29.47.08 in the 10,000m to qualify, will compete in the prelims of the NCAA West Region Championships in Austin, Texas May 23-25. The NCAA Championships are in Eugene, Ore., June 5-8.
  • Broncos Close Out Regular Season Track With Many Personal Bests, School Record

    The Santa Clara University Track team wrapped up its regular season last weekend at the West Coast Invite at Willamette University. Senior Kevin Oliver continued his outstanding season with another personal best and another school record, covering 3.1 miles of the track in 14:27.81 seconds. The women head into the summer capping off one of its most successful track seasons in school history as the women added new marks to every event top 10 list from 800 meters through 10k.

    Santa Clara senior Kevin Oliver, making his season debut in the 10,000 meter race, made yet another mark on the track school record list by taking down the longest standing mark on the books with an impressive performance, running 29:47.08, at Mt. Sac Relays. Mt. Sac, historically a fantastic venue for distance performances, set the stage for Oliver's performance, which knocked 61 seconds off former Bronco Rory O'Flahtery's 1985 record.
  • Bronco Student-Athletes Post 3.0+ GPA For The 18th Time In 19 Quarters

    Led by 16 Bronco student-athletes who posted a 4.0 grade point average and four teams who achieved a 3.4 or higher, Santa Clara University's student-athletes recorded a 3.037 grade point average (GPA) for the Winter 2013 quarter, topping 3.0 or better for the 18th time in 19 quarters. Santa Clara's cumulative GPA for its student-athletes is 3.089.

Santa Clara's cumulative GPA for its student-athletes is 3.036.

    The Bronco cross country teams are preparing to travel to the Northwest later this week to compete in the NCAA Cross Country West Regional. The University of Washington is proud to host the 2012 NCAA Cross Country West Regional Championships, Friday, Nov. 9 at the Jefferson Park Golf Course in Seattle. It is the first time ever Seattle has hosted the event.

    Running in Portland for the first time, Santa Clara’s women finished sixth and the men seventh at the West Coast Conference Championships Saturday morning in Fernhill Park. Portland took back the men’s title after BYU snapped its streak of 32 straight last year by outscoring Portland 32 to 33. USF won its fourth straight women’s title.

    Twenty-four Broncos have been honored for their academics by the West Coast Conference on Friday, the eve of the West Coast Conference Championship in Portland. Four Broncos were named to the 2012 First Team West Coast Conference Cross Country All-Academic team on Friday. In addition, 13 Bronco women and seven Bronco women made the All-Academic Honorable Mention list.
