  • Broncos Set Commissioner's Honor Roll Record for Second Straight Year

    The West Coast Conference announced its 13th annual Commissioner's Honor Roll Tuesday, and 141 Santa Clara Broncos were recognized with honors for their athletic success and academic excellence. Santa Clara had 18 student-athletes receive gold honors (3.75-4.00 GPA) and 33 student-athletes receive silver honors (3.50-3.74 GPA). The Broncos set a new record of student athletes named to the Commissioner's Honor Roll, breaking the previous mark of 133 in the 2012-13 school year.

    The Santa Clara University track team concluded the regular season in fashion, adding three new improved marks to the all-time lists and adding three new personal records to some individual student-athlete resumes at the West Coast Invitational hosted by the University of Portland at Charles Bowles Track Complex in Salem, Ore.
  • Six Santa Clara Teams Recipients of NCAA Public Recognition Awards For Academic Achievement

    Continuing its hard work in the classroom, Santa Clara's men’s outdoor track, women’s golf, women’s rowing, women’s tennis, women’s outdoor track, and women’s water polo teams were all recognized by the NCAA as recipients of the organization's Public Recognition Awards for academic achievement. The NCAA released the APR recognition by highlighting teams that demonstrated a commitment to academic progress and retention of student-athletes by achieving the top APR scores within their respective sports. Specifically, these six teams posted multi-year APRs in the top 10 percent of all squads in each sport. Also, men’s basketball recorded the highest four-year average APR for the West Coast Conference.

    The Santa Clara track team, competing in one of its final meets of the regular season, took advantage of ideal San Francisco conditions to notch one new school record, add four new personal records, seven season bests, and two heat victories at the West Coast Last Chance Open hosted by University of San Francisco at Cox Stadium.

  • Bronco Student-Athletes Top 3.0 GPA for 21st Time in 22 Quarters

    With 11 Bronco student-athletes achieving a 4.0 grade point average (GPA) and 16 of the 19 Bronco teams scoring a 3.0 term GPA or higher, Santa Clara University's student-athletes recorded a 3.138 grade point average (GPA) for the Winter 2014 quarter. They also topped 3.0 or better for the 21st time in 22 quarters. Santa Clara's cumulative GPA of 3.080 continues to climb for its student-athletes as well.

SF State coach Tom Lyons started this meet in 2004 and it has grown into a really premier event and the Broncos are glad to be a part of it.

    The Bronco track team opened the 2014 season at the Kim Duyst Invitational on the CSU Stanislaus campus on Saturday. Kelly Ryan won the 5000m and teammate Emily Robinson was fourth. On the men's side, Joey Berriatua won the men's 1500m and teammate Brynn Sargent was eighth.

    Santa Clara’s men’s cross country team finished 21st at the NCAA West Region Championship in Sacramento, Calif. on Friday. The women’s team finished 24th. The Stanford men won the title with WCC opponent Portland finishing third. The Arizona women won the title with San Francisco finishing fourth.
  • Sixteen Cross Country Runners Honored By WCC For Academics

    Honoring 16 Broncos this year, the West Coast Conference announced the 2013 West Coast Conference Men’s and Women's Cross Country All-Academic Teams on Thursday with both Sam Holeman and Lauren Germany named to the first team. Seven men and seven women were named to the Honorable Mention list.

    Both the Bronco men's and women's cross country teams finished sixth at the West Coast Conference Championship on Saturday morning. The men scored 155 points. The women scored 194 points, topping host-Pepperdine by seven points.

  • Cross Country Runs A Number of PRs As Host Of Bronco Invitational

    Hosting the Bronco Invitational, the Santa women won the Bronco Open and the men finished second. The Bronco women were sixth in the Bronco Invitational with the men finishing 10th without their top two runners. LMU won both the men’s and women’s titles at the Bronco Invitational, with Grand Canyon winning the Men’s Open. LMU’s men bested runner-up UC Santa Barbara 84-86.
  • Cross Country Hosts 8th Annual Bronco Invitational With Teams From Coast to Coast Running

    Santa Clara cross country returns home Sat., Oct. 19 to host its own meet, the Bronco Invitational, at Baylands Park in Sunnyvale, Calif. It is the 8th annual running of the meet at Baylands which was previously run at Crystal Springs. The meet will be represented by teams from three different NCAA Division 1 regions with teams from Division 2, Division 3, NAIA, junior colleges, as well as two schools from Canada.

    Continuing to prepare for the Bronco Invitational on Oct. 19, the Bronco cross country teams will compete at the S.F. State Invitational in San Francisco on Fri., Oct. 11. The women will run a full team while the men’s team will run just four runners so they won’t have a team score.
  • Men Finish 7th, Women 8th At 40th Annual Stanford Invitational

    The Bronco cross country teams ran in the 40th annual Stanford Invitational, with the men finishing seventh in the 8K. They defeated West Coast Conference schools San Diego and Pepperdine. The Bronco women were eighth, finishing in front of Pepperdine and Saint Mary's. Stanford won both of the College Invitationals.
