Santa Clara ran a number of runners up at the S.F. State Invitational on Friday afternoon as preparation for next weekend's Bronco Invitational at Baylands Park on Oct. 19.

At S.F. State, Allison Maio led the women finishing 15th in 22:57.8.  Elsa Valenzuela finished 21st in 23:13.1  Kate Yanish was 28th at 23:38.3  Camille Dyer was fourth for the Broncos in 66th place at 25:36.4.

"I was really impressed with a few individuals today," said Bronco head coach Felipe Montoro. "Elsa Valenzuela ran the best race I have ever seen her run. It was a big break through for her and really fun to watch. Allison Maio bounced back well from the illness that slowed her at Stanford and had a good effort as well."

On the men's side Peter Stephens finished first for the Broncos at 26:19.3.  Lelond Wong was 38th at 26:49.9.  Matt Burke was third at 27:32.5 in 62nd place.  Marcos Hinojosa was 87th at 28:57.3.

"Peter Stephens had his best race of the season and is rounding into form at the right time," added Montoro. "Matt Burke also ran a lifetime best and looked in control, so hopefully he can continue improving next week."
