Bronco Track Scores Personal Bests At Johnny Mathis Invitational

The Bronco track team dusted off their spikes this weekend after taking a week off for winter quarter finals and competed well at the Johnny Mathis Invitational, hosted by San Francisco State University.

"The team competed hard after finishing up a tough week of finals. We took advantage of great conditions and competition; and we were rewarded with many new personal bests," said Bronco head coach Felipe Montoro.

Amia Nash ran a personal-best 2:18.40 to finish eighth in the 800m.

Joey Berriatua continued to run well, finishing fourth in the 1500m with a time of 3:55.31. Sean Roe finished 12th at 4:05.39.

"Joey Berriatua mixed it up with some very good runners again in the 1500m," said Montoro.

Kaitlyn Kuehn ran a 4:50.60 to finish 21st in the 1500m.  Audrey Hiatt was close behind in 25th place at 4:54.41.

"Amia and Kaitlyn both ran really well.  Amia had the race of the day on the women's side," added Montoro.

Adrian Hinojosa dropped his personal best in the 5000m from 15:25 to 14:48.76.  "Adrian has a lot left in the tank," said Montoro.

Ryan Greenough was 14th (personal best 15:04.46) overall, winning his heat, and Sam Holeman finished 16th (15:12.00) in the same 5000m event.

Leland Wong was 11th in the 800m at 1:58.63.

Kelly Ryan finished fifth in the women's 5000m, clocking under 18 minutes at 17:59.59.

The women's 4x400m relay finished seventh at 4:17.03.

"Pete and I are really looking forward to heading back up to SF State in two weeks for the Distance Carnival. We will be running full squads on both sides and are expecting to have a great showing," said Montoro.
