The Santa Clara University women's cross country and track program welcome seven new student-athletes to the roster this fall, including six freshmen and one transfer.  They come from four different states across the western United States.

"The coaching staff is really excited about the additions to our roster this fall," said Bronco head coach Felipe Montoro.  "We have a very motivated and talented group coming in, and a lot of range and potential."

Greer Chrisman (Burlingame High School, Burlingame, Calif.)
Incoming freshman Greer Chrisman is a multi-sport student-athlete looking to shift her attention entirely to cross country/track.  Chrisman is California state qualifier in the 300 meter intermediate hurdles, and boasts a best of 45.55.

"Greer has been one of the most consistent intermediate hurdlers in CCS since qualifying for the California state meet as a sophomore," said Montoro. "She also played soccer at Burlingame and is a great all around athlete. We are excited to ease her into the next phase of her track career as she makes the move up to the 800 meter event."

Allison Martinez (Aloha High School, Beaverton, Ore.)
Allison Martinez comes to Santa Clara with a strong resume in both cross country and track, highlighted by a 12th place finish in the Oregon State Cross Country Championships.  She boasts a cross country 5k best of 18:40 and track personal records of 4:53.47 (1500) and 10:37.06 (3200).

"We are really excited to be adding Allison to our team," said Montoro. "She had an outstanding senior season in cross country culminating with a 12th place finish at the Oregon 6A state meet (18:58). Pete and I think that Allison has the potential to be a very, very good runner and we can't wait to start working with her."

Grayson Murphy (Sweet Briar College)
Grayson Murphy comes to Santa Clara University cross country/track after making a short detour at Sweet Briar College, where she competed in soccer.  Murphy attended high school at West HS in Salt Lake City, Utah, and competed in track, running PR's of 59.00 (400 meters) and 2:23.21 (800 meters).

"Grayson is another multi-sport athlete who will be putting 100% of her energy and effort into distance running at SCU," said Montoro. "A stellar high school soccer athlete, Grayson also ran very well at 800m and 400m in high school. She will be a great addition to our middle distance group and has the potential to be very competitive at the longer distances in the future as well."

Hannah Wood (Presentation High School, San Jose, Calif.)
Hannah Wood, a local prospect, comes to SCU out of the highly competitive WCAL.  Wood brings PR's of 18:53 at the Crystal Springs Invitational and boasts track bests 2:17.67 (800), 5:02.49 (1600) and 11:30.16 (3200).

"Hannah is one of the fastest recruits we have signed in years," said Montoro. "She has a great range and has a tremendous amount of room for growth in her training. Hannah will have an immediate impact on our team this fall."
