Cross Country Poised for Big Weekend at Chile Pepper Festival, Stanford Invitational

SANTA CLARA, Calif. — Santa Clara cross country will race in two different time zones in two prestigious events on Saturday. The Broncos are splitting their squad between the Chile Pepper Festival in Fayetteville, Ark. and the Stanford Invitational in Stanford, Calif. to face elite competition from across the country.

Between the four fields, there are 26 regionally ranked teams and six nationally ranked teams.

"I think we are in good shape and the timing of these races is ideal," associate head coach Pete Cushman said. "This will be our first large field of the season in both Arkansas and Stanford, which is something we need at this point in the year."

Santa Clara is competing for the third time this season. The Broncos ran at Hellman Hollow Meadow in San Francisco's Golden Gate Park for their first two events of the year. The Bronco men have landed a spot in the USTFCCCA West Region rankings for two straight weeks.
