Track and Field Stays in the Bay for Brutus Hamilton Open Friday

SANTA CLARA, Calif. — Santa Clara track and field will take a group of nine runners to compete in three different events Friday at the Brutus Hamilton Open in Berkeley, California. The Broncos will hone in on shorter distances with seven runners competing at 800m and two runners at 1500m.

LAST COMPETITION

Joey Berriatua produced a strong 1500m season debut Saturday. The San Mateo, California native scored his second career victory with a 3:52.72 as part of the Fresno State Bulldog Invitational at Veterans Memorial Stadium. Berriatua now owns 12 top-five finishes on the track in three seasons.

Jack Davidson, fresh off setting the 5000m school record at the Mt. SAC Relays, made his collegiate debut at 1500m and took fourth place with a 3:54.80.

McCullough posted her second-fastest 1500m mark (4:53.25) in her eighth race at that distance as a Bronco. Sanchez, who took to the college track for the first time last week, placed fourth in her 1500m section with a 4:57.97, which was more than six seconds faster compared to her race last weekend at the Woody Wilson Classic.
