Track and Field Notches Five PRs at Brutus Hamilton Open

BERKELEY, Calif. — Santa Clara track and field sent eight runners to the Brutus Hamilton Open on Friday, and five of them finished the day with a new personal-best time. The Broncos raced for the third time in as many weekends in the day's competition at Edwards Stadium.

"I am very pleased with the team's progress at Brutus Hamilton," head coach Felipe Montoro said. "The numerous PRs and competitive races bode well for us heading into the last two weeks of the regular season."

Bevin McCullough ran a personal best time in the 1500m for the second time in three weeks with a 4:51.27. The sophomore's top three collegiate times at that distance have all come in the last three competitions. 

In total, four Broncos bested their old record times in the 800m. Greer Chrisman won her section and placed third in the field with a 2:17.97 and Alanna McCauley took second place in that same section with a 2:23.73. Brennan Lagerstrom placed second in his section and seventh overall with a 1:55.53 and Jeffrey Stalun also lowered his personal-best mark with a 1:56.58.

Jean-Baptiste Tooley's 1:55.42 at 800m was good for fifth place overall and he came within less than a second of the day's fastest time.
