SANTA CLARA, Calif. — Santa Clara cross country will race in dual fashion against West Coast Conference rival Saint Mary's on Friday morning. The men's 6-kilometer race is set for 9:30 a.m. and the women's 5-kilometer race is slated for 10 a.m. at nearby Baylands Park in Sunnyvale, California.

The Broncos and Gaels take to the same course for the second time this season on the men's side. Santa Clara finished in second place (of seven teams) in the season-opening USF Invitational on Sept. 2, while Saint Mary's finished in seventh.

Jack Davidson and Joey Berriatua (sixth and seventh place, respectively) led the Broncos in the 8-kilometer event in San Francisco, while Moses Bojorquez (45th place) led all Gael runners. Saint Mary's sent its top men's runners to the Nevada Twilight on the day prior to the USF Invite. Noah McDermott took first place in the 5-kilometer race and the Gaels had four runners finish in the top 10 as part of a team victory.

The women's teams have not met in the young 2017 campaign. Janie Nabholz (42nd place) led Santa Clara's women at the Sundodger Invitational 6-kilometer race in Seattle last Saturday. Abby Bolt led Saint Mary's with a fifth-place finish in the women's 4-kilometer race at the Nevada Twilight.

QUOTABLE — SCU HEAD COACH FELIPE MONTORO

"We're excited to continue our dual meet tradition with Saint Mary's. I really enjoy the pure one-on-one competitive nature of the dual meet. Both teams are pretty evenly matched, and I am looking forward to the races."
