SANTA CLARA, Calif. — Santa Clara track & field is due to race 13 times between indoor and outdoor seasons in the new year. The team released its 2018 schedule on Thursday, announced by head coach Felipe Montoro.

The Broncos begin their campaign with three indoor meets; they race in the season-opening Washington Invitational (Seattle) on Jan. 26, followed by the Jackson's Invitational (Boise, Idaho) on Feb. 3 and the Husky Classic (Seattle) on Feb. 10. Santa Clara ran in a single indoor meet during each of the last three seasons.

The team transitions to its outdoor slate on March 3 at the Quad Meet (Orinda, California) against Loyola Marymount, Saint Mary's and San Francisco. Santa Clara's 10-meet, all-Golden State outdoor lineup includes six races in Northern California and four races in Southern California. The Broncos wrap up the regular season at the Oxy Invitational (Los Angeles) on May 12.

Santa Clara will aim to make it 11 meets in California by qualifying for the NCAA West Regional Championships, held May 24-26 in Sacramento, California. The NCAA National Championship Meet is June 6-9 in Eugene, Oregon.

"We are excited to race in 2018, and believe we have a schedule that presents a number of great opportunities to run fast this spring. We feel very fortunate that we don't have to travel too far to face some of the best competition in the country and allow our student-athletes the opportunity to compete at a high level."
