Three Broncos Begin Track & Field’s Indoor Season at Washington Invitational

SANTA CLARA, Calif. — Santa Clara track and field begins the indoor season this Friday and Saturday at the Washington Invitational. Joey Berriatua and Zach Litoff will race in separate heats of the 5,000-meter event on Friday night and Jack Davidson will run at 3,000 meters on Saturday afternoon. All events are held at Dempsey Indoor.

Berriatua (14:27.59) and Davidson (8:26.10) each own the third-fastest time in program history for their respective events, including Davidson's mark from last year's Washington Invitational.

"This race is a great early-season competitive opportunity for all three runners," associate head coach Pete Cushman said. They're all in great shape and will have very good fields to race."

This week marks the first of three indoor events in three weeks. The Broncos will race at Jackson's Invitational in Boise, Idaho before returning to the Pacific Northwest for the Husky Classic.

RACE SCHEDULE

Joey Berriatua – 5,000 meters – Section 1 of 3 Friday @ 7:20 p.m.

Zach Litoff – 5,000 meters - Section 2 of 3 Friday @ 8:45 p.m.

Jack Davidson – 3,000 meters – Section 2 of 4 Saturday @ 2:30 p.m.

Berriatua and Davidson each own the third-fastest time in program history for their respective events.
