Track & Field Faces Local Competition at Cal Outdoor Opener Saturday

SANTA CLARA, Calif. — Santa Clara track & field is set for its second competition of the 2019 outdoor season. The Broncos head to Berkeley, California for the Cal Opener on Saturday at Edwards Stadium.

Santa Clara has 35 entries across eight distances. The Broncos take to the track against Cal, Saint Mary's, San Francisco and UC Davis.

"We are looking forward to racing some excellent competition at the Cal Opener," head coach Felipe Montoro said.

Santa Clara won four of eight races as hosts of the West Coast Invitational on Saturday, Feb. 23 at Bellarmine College Prep. Hannah Covington scored the first win of the day at 800 meters, followed up by victories from Jack Davidson at 1,500 meters, Zach Litoff at 3,000 meters and the women's 4x400-meter relay team of Titilola Bolarinwa, Khiely Jackson, Sophia Morris and Hannah Rehm.
