LOS ANGELES/DAVIS, Calif. — Jack Davidson outraced a field of 238 runners to win the men's 5,000-meter race at the Oxy Distance Carnival Spring Break Classic. The junior posted one of several standout races at Bill Henry Track, including a second-place finish (first among collegiate runners) by Zach Litoff in the 3,000-meter steeplechase.

Litoff's 8:53.67 was more than 15 seconds faster than the rest of the collegiate field and that mark puts him in a good position to qualify for the postseason. Christian Raslowsky captured fourth place in the same event with a 9:20.14.

Janie Nabholz and Hannah Covington turned in two of the top races for the women's team, finishing in 10th and 11th place, respectively in the 1,500-meter run. Covington captured second place in her heat.

Daryon Baynard made it two race victories for the Broncos on the day by outracing the competition in the 800-meter event at the Aggie Open. Baynard crossed the finish line in 2:02.12 at Woody Wilson Track.

FROM THE COACHES

Head coach Felipe Montoro on the men's team: "The team ran phenomenal races across the board. Zach Litoff and Christian Raslowsky got everything rolling with standout performances in the steeple. Jack Davidson dominated a really good 5k field with a really strong final 1,200. Xander Olivero had the performance of the day with his 14:29. Spencer Fischer had a huge finish to get the win in his heat and debut 5k. Evan Misuraca also had his best race in college."

Associate head coach Pete Cushman on the women's team: "This was a great meet all around from the 800 to 5k. Sarah King, Emma Eikelberner, and Noelani Obermeyer are all right there on getting onto our top 10 list. They've improved so much over the last year, and this was a fantastic 5k season debut. They've continued to do a good job running for each other and being supportive of each other and it continues to show in our performances."
