SANTA CLARA, Calif. — Following a record-setting regular season, Santa Clara track & field heads to the postseason for the second year in a row. Jack Davidson and Zach Litoff have qualified for the NCAA West Regional Meet, held May 23-25 in Sacramento, California. Davidson will run at 1,500 meters and 5,000 meters, while Litoff will compete in the 3,000-meter steeplechase at Hornet Stadium.
The top 12 runners in each event advance to the NCAA National Championship meet, held June 5-8 in Austin, Texas.

SCHEDULE/QUALIFYING FOR NATIONALS
Davidson 1,500-meter run first round (Heat 1) Thursday, May 23 @ 6 PM
- Four heats. 12 runners per heat. Top five from each heat plus next four best times in field to quarterfinal on Saturday.
Litoff 3,000-meter steeplechase (Heat 3) Friday, May 24 @ 9 PM
- Three heats. 16 runners per heat. Top three from each heat plus next three best times in field to nationals.
Davidson 1,500-meter run quarterfinal Saturday, May 25 @ 6:45 PM (if he advances from Thursday's first round)
- Two heats. 12 runners per heat. Top five from each heat plus next two best times in field to nationals.
Davidson 5,000-meter run quarterfinal (Heat 1) Saturday, May 25 @ 8:45 PM
- Two heats. 24 runners per heat. Top five from each heat plus next two best times in field to nationals.

MAKING HISTORY IN 2019
Each of the three qualifying marks is a program record, one of eight set by the Bronco men this season (rankings prior to announcement of start lists):
Litoff 3,000-meter steeplechase – 8:47.39 at Stanford Invitational (15th west/22nd NCAA)
Davidson 1,500 meters – 3:45.02 at Occidental Invitational (45th west/81st NCAA)
Davidson 5,000 meters – 14:00.91 at Payton Jordan Invitational (57th west/85th NCAA)
SUSTAINED SUCCESS
The Broncos have reached the postseason for the third time in four years, the best stretch in team history. Joey Berriatua competed in the 3,000-meter steeplechase at the 2018 regional meet. Mary Kriege (5,000m, 10,000m) and Grayson Murphy (3,000m steeplechase, 5,000m) each qualified for a pair of events in 2016. Kevin Oliver (10,000m – 2013) and Michael Delaurenti (3,000m steeplechase – 2008) also reached the second season for SCU.
