Ferris Named to Second Straight CoSIDA Academic All-District Team

SANTA CLARA, Calif. — Santa Clara cross country/track & field's Jamie Ferris has been named to the 2019 Google Cloud CoSIDA Academic All-District® VIII Women's Track & Field/Cross Country Second Team, announced on Tuesday. Ferris, a senior who is double-majoring in mechanical engineering and philosophy, has a 3.98 cumulative GPA.

Ferris earned a spot on the all-district team for the second year in a row. The Vancouver, Washington native is one of 24 student-athletes selected to all-district team and one of only three from the West Coast Conference.

District VIII academic awards are voted on by CoSIDA members from Division I programs in Alaska, Arizona, California, Hawai'i, Nevada, Oregon, Utah, Washington and Canada.

Ferris received a WCC Cross Country All-Academic Honorable Mention accolade and gold honors (3.75-4.00 GPA) on the WCC Commissioner's Honor Roll in each of the last three years. She received Santa Clara's Senior Academic Award, given to the female senior student-athlete with the highest grade point average, at the Red & White Celebration in May.

ABOUT THE PROGRAM

The 2018-19 Google Cloud Academic All-District® Women's Track/Cross Country Team, selected by CoSIDA, recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the playing field and in the classroom. First-team Academic All-District® honorees advance to the Google Cloud Academic All-America® ballot, with Google Cloud Academic All-America® teams announced in June.

To be nominated for CoSIDA Academic All-District honors, a student-athlete must have completed at least one full academic year at their institution, be a significant contributor and carry a cumulative grade point average of 3.30 or higher.
