QUOTABLE – ASSOCIATE HEAD COACH PETE CUSHMAN

Vanderbilt: "This was definitively the most competitive race in the country for this weekend, and I think we did a really good job handling our nerves and the overall intensity of the race. Our spread one through four was 12 seconds. That's our strength, and I think we have the capacity to get our one through seven spread around 20 seconds, all while improving our overall position up front. This was a good measure to see where we are in the season, and we have a lot of room for growth. Everyone is motivated and excited, and we are all looking forward to seeing what we can do as we approach October and November."

Stump: "We sent a young squad to Davis and managed a good race in some nasty conditions. To send that youthful squad and beat a conference foe [Pacific] at full strength is a good indicator of the depth we are building."

NEXT UP

The Broncos return to action in two weeks on Sept. 28 at the Oregon Bill Dellinger Cross Country Invitational (Springfield, Oregon – men only) and the Capital Cross Challenge (Sacramento, California – both teams).
