Cross Country to Race at Oregon Bill Dellinger Invitational, Capital Cross Challenge Saturday

SANTA CLARA, Calif. — Santa Clara cross country will compete in simultaneous meets on Saturday morning in the third competition weekend of the 2019 season. The men's team races at the Oregon-hosted Bill Dellinger Invitational 8-kilometer race at 10:30 a.m. (Springfield, Oregon - Pine Ridge Golf Club) while both the men's and women's teams race at the Capital Cross Challenge (Sacramento, California - Haggin Oaks Golf Course). The men's 8k in the state capitol is set for 9:40 a.m. and the women's 6k gets going at 10:40 a.m.

LAST TIME OUT

Santa Clara women's cross country continued to settle in to the 2019 season against strong competition in two meets on Sept. 13 and 14. Janie Nabholz led the team for the second straight week, running a 22:52.0 6k in the Vanderbilt Commodore Classic to take 68th place and Greta Anderson crossed the finish line in 52nd place with a 6k 24:34.4 at the Stump Invitational.

The men took third place in the season-opening USF Invitational 8k, led by a 25:57.5 from James Konugres, good for 11th place as the top Bronco men's finisher.

Head Coach Felipe Montoro on Dellinger: "I'm really looking forward to seeing how we compete against some of the best teams in the country. It's a great opportunity for us."

Associate Head Coach Pete Cushman on Capital: "We are looking forward to an opportunity to race in a big field and see how we look specifically against our WCC competition in Loyola Marymount, Pepperdine and Saint Mary's. We've had a great couple of weeks of training since our last competition and are looking forward to seeing how it all looks competing."
