SANTA CLARA, Calif. - Santa Clara senior left fielder Scott Dierks continued to rack up the postseason honors on Sunday as he was named a CollegeBaseballInsider.com honorable mention All-America selection.

Dierks, who was drafted in the 24th round by the Florida Marlins, adds this honor to his 2003 West Coast Conference Co-Player of the Year honor and the unanimous selection to the All-WCC first team.

"Like I have said before, no one is more deserving of any kind of honor he can get," said head coach Mark O'Brien. "Scott's work ethic and desire to succeed really separate him from a lot of people. I believe that is what will separate him from some others at the next level."

Dierks' work ethic truly paid off during his senior season as he led the Broncos to a 31-26 record, the program's first winning season since 1997. He batted .394 with 18 home runs, 14 doubles, 45 runs scored and 42 RBI in 43 starts. In league play alone he captured the conference Triple Crown by batting .425 with 14 home runs and 34 RBI in 30 WCC contests.

Dierks becomes the second Santa Clara baseball player to receive All-America honors in 2003, joining Patrick Overholt who was selected to the Louisville Slugger Freshman All-American team earlier this postseason.
