SANTA CLARA, Calif. - Santa Clara Baseball head coach Mark O'Brien added to its recruiting Class of 2006 when junior college transfer Evan LeBlanc signed a Financial Aid Agreement and will attend Santa Clara in 2006-07.

LeBlanc, a Tucson, Ariz. native, starred for Salpointe Catholic High School in 2005 along with current Broncos freshman Sean O'Neill and will come to the Mission Campus from Yavapai Community College in Prescott, Ariz.

In both his junior and senior years, LeBlanc was named to the All-Region and All-State first teams, as well as being chosen to play in the Arizona Baseball Coaches Association (AzBCA) All-Star game.

As a senior he hit led the ... with a .519 average, eight homers, 33 RBIs and was tied for second in the state with 28 stolen bases. LeBlanc also scored 41 runs and drew 22 walks in helping lead Salpointe Catholic to the 5A Southern title.

"Evan Leblanc is a very good athlete who has tremendous speed and can hit for power," O'Brien said. "To me, Evan's best attribute is his hard-nosed attitude, competitiveness and work ethic. He plays the game extremely hard."

LeBlanc joins Nathan Garcia (Bellarmine College Prep), Patrick Glenn (Amador Valley HS), Matthew Hiserman (Capistrano Valley HS), Steven Kalush (Aragon HS), Geoffrey Klein (Ocean View HS), Tommy Medica (Bellarmine College Prep), Alex Rivers (Tokay HS), Dylan Slocum (Paloma Valley HS), Tayler Thomas (Salpointe Catholic HS), and Jeremy Zink (Garfield HS) as part of O'Brien's Class of 2006.
