KAILUA-KONA, Hawaii - The winning streak reached a season-high of five games Sunday afternoon for the Santa Clara University baseball team as the offense slugged 18 hits and again scored in double-digit figures in a 14-4 victory over the Vulcans of the University of Hawaii at Hilo.

The teams are scheduled to return to action tomorrow afternoon at 3 p.m. Pacific time (1 p.m. local) at Simmons Field in Kailua-Kona as Santa Clara (15-11) shoots for their second-straight series sweep. With today's loss the Vulcans fall to 9-20.

Dustin Realini led the Bronco hit parade with a 4-for-5 performance which saw him fall only a home run short of hitting for the cycle. Realini also drove in five runs and scored twice on the day. Kris Watts had two hits and slammed his second homer in as many days and fourth of the season while Jason Matteucci continued his strong return to the lineup with a 3-for-4 day with a double and three runs scored.

Sean O'Neill evened his record at 2-2 with a solid seven-inning effort on Sunday.

O'Neill was helped right away as his offense scored seven runs over the contest's first three frames. After notching a run in each of the first two innings, the Broncos put up five in the top of the third. Realini's RBI double after Matteucci doubled and Daniel Nava singled to lead off the inning opened up the scoring in the third frame. Two batters later Ryan Conan drove in the first of his two RBIs on the game with a single to left.

Although the Vulcans answered with four runs of their own in their half of the third, O'Neill buckled down and with the help of Jeff Lombard and Deke Dormer, held Hawaii-Hilo scoreless the rest of the way.

The Broncos put things away in the seventh when Nava's lead-off walk preceded Realini's RBI triple and Eric Newton's RBI single. Watts then drove one over the right-field fence for a two-run job that blew things open at 11-4. SCU would add three more in the eighth highlighted by Realini driving in a pair with a base hit up the middle.
