Two Santa Clara Signees Drafted In 2011 MLB First-Year Player Draft

SANTA CALRA, Calif. – Two Santa Clara baseball signees for 2011-12 were selected in the MLB First-Year Player Draft this week.

Michael Suiter was selected in the 37th round, 1,135th overall, by the Cincinnati Reds and C.J. Jacobe was selected in the 45th round, 1,136th overall, by the Oakland Athletics.

Suiter, a centerfielder out of Punahou High School in Hawaii was ranked the sixth best high school player in Hawaii by MaxPreps.com.

Jacobe, an outfielder out of Vacaville High School in California, batted .436 with a .506 on-base percentage and a .769 slugging percentage in his senior season. He added five homeruns, nine doubles, 28 RBIs and scored 22 runs in 89 plate appearances.

Both players plan to attend Santa Clara in the fall.
