The Santa Clara offense was limited to just six hits, half of which came from 2B Greg Harisis who was 3-4 with a double and scored the only Bronco run.

The top of the fourth saw the Broncos threaten to extend their lead. After two quick outs Looney singled to right field and Peters followed with a single to right center to put runners on the corners. Viele was unable to knock in a run as he popped out to shortstop for the third out.

The Zags broke through in the bottom of the fifth with three runs. 2B Alex Stanford was hit by a pitch with one out and SS Steven Halcomb followed with a single to left center. After a fielder's choice for the second out and a steal of second base by RF Billy Moon, LF Brock Slavin whacked a homer over the left field wall to put Gonzaga ahead 3-1.

In the bottom of the eighth the Bulldogs added an insurance run. Slavin singled to left center to start the inning and went to second on a sac bunt by C Maxx Garrett. 3B Eric Lane hit an infield single to advance Slavin to third with only one out. 1B Marco Gonzales came up and hit a sacrifice fly to center to bring the score to 4-1.
