Meet the Future of Bronco Baseball: Kyle Czaplak

SANTA CLARA, Calif. – Continuing to highlight the future of the program, Santa Clara baseball introduces Kyle Czaplak of Pacific Grove High School in Pacific Grove, Calif.

"Santa Clara was without a doubt the best fit for me in all ways possible," said Czaplak. "The coaching staff here is unbelievable and they are building something that I cannot wait to be a part of. Besides the amazing field, facilities and campus, the feeling of family and the tightness throughout the program is unbelievable. I feel I am going to be able to develop not only as a baseball player but also as a human being."

In 2012 Czaplak's high school team was CCS champions with an overall record of 20-10 and a 13-5 mark in league play. The same year he was selected as a First-Team All-Mission Trail Athletic League member as a shortstop. He was also All-Monterey County Herald and All-County Salinas Californian as a shortstop. He hit .423 overall and over .500 in league play with three home runs, 22 RBI, 38 hits, 34 runs scored, 25 walks and 20 steals. In his freshman and sophomore years, Czaplak was a Second-Team All-Mission Trail Athletic League selection.

In addition to his high school baseball, Czaplak played for Trosky Baseball during the summer and was part of the Giants Scout team. He also took part in the North-South All-Star Series and played in the 2012 Area Code Series with the Northern California Oakland Athletics team. He was named the MVP in the North-South All-Star series and helped his North team with the series.

Czaplak maintained honor roll status throughout high school and has helped many young children learn the game of baseball. He assisted in coaching Pacific Grove youth baseball teams and has worked with disabled children.

Czaplak has a brother Ryan and a sister Emily while his grandfather played football at Arizona State and Notre Dame and went on to play professionally with the Buffalo Bills and for the Hamilton Tigercats in the CFL.

His hobbies and interests include playing ping-pong, working out, playing pool, attending San Francisco Giants games and hanging out with his friends and family.
