Meet the Future of Bronco Baseball: Kevin George

SANTA CLARA, Calif. – Continuing to introduce players to sign National Letters of Intent, Santa Clara baseball introduces Kevin George of Petaluma, Calif. He will graduate from Casa Grande High School in 2013.

"One of the biggest factors that drew me to the Santa Clara baseball program was the old-school philosophy," said George. "Santa Clara plays the game the right way with a ton of respect for its history. I love the old school baggy uniforms. The coaches are great and have shown they really want to develop their players both on and off the field. Also, the stadium and player facilities are extremely nice and the weather is great for baseball. Santa Clara is also well-respected with a high standard of academics and the baseball program supports its players in the classroom."

In 2012 as a junior, George's team went 20-7 and advanced to the second round of the NCS playoffs. During that year he hit .405 with a .485 on-base percentage and 20 RBI. On the mound he went 7-3 in 62.2 innings with an ERA of 0.89. He struck out 91 and allowed just a .148 opponent's batting average while tossing four complete games and shutouts.

As a sophomore George hit .605 with a .659 on-base percentage. As a pitcher he tossed 22.1 innings and went 3-1 with 50 strikeouts. He held opposing batters to a .141 average while throwing three complete game shutouts, including a no-hitter.

George played for North Bay Baseball and was part of the High School Wood Bat League champions in 2010 and 2011. He was the starting pitcher for both of the title games and struck out 16 in 2010.

He also played for the SSK National Travel Team in 2011 and the Trosky Baseball Travel-Showcase Team in 2011 and 2012. George also took part in the 2012 Bay Area World Series, 2012 Reebok NorCal World Series, 2012 Rawlings World Series, 2012 Seattle Mariners Fall Scout Team and the 2012 Area Code Tryouts with the Oakland Athletics.

His father Michael played collegiate baseball at Daemen College in Amherst, N.Y. and his mother was a gymnast at the LA College of Chiropractic. He has one brother, Steven.
