SANTA CLARA, Calif. – With the start of the season less than two weeks away, Santa Clara baseball had one player named to the Preseason All-West Coast Conference Team Feb. 6. Junior INF/OF Greg Harisis was one of 10 position players honored by the league's coaches. The league's nine coaches picked San Diego as the league champions.

"It's a big honor to make the preseason All-WCC team and be mentioned among some very good players," said Harisis. "I am just hoping to do whatever I can for the team as we strive for the WCC title this season."

"Individual recognition is nice and we're happy for Greg, but that doesn't help our collective goal of winning a championship," said Santa Clara head coach Dan O'Brien. "Our guys are all about the guys next to them more than their own success. It's all about the dog-pile at the end of the year."

Last season Harisis started as a reserve but forced his way into the starting lineup with his bat. He led the Broncos with a .398 batting average to go along with a .464 on-base percentage and .488 slugging percentage. He collected eight doubles, one home run, 13 RBI and scored 30 runs. On the bases Harisis went 6-9 on stolen bases. His performance landed him a spot on the First-Team All-WCC list last season.
