Daquiog led off the home half of the second with a single to left but was promptly erased on a double play. It was the last base runner the Spartans would have until the eighth as Nance retired 15 straight.

Michael Gerlach came in to pinch hit for Dane Lund and struck out swinging while Carroll was gunned down at third attempting to steal to end the inning.

After a 1-2-3 top of the ninth, Mercurio was hit by a pitch to lead off the bottom of the inning. Nance was lifted for Max Deering who got the first out on a grounder that moved Mercurio to second. Quiery walked to put the tying run on base with just one out.
