SANTA CLARA, Calif. – In its second to last midweek home game of the season, Santa Clara baseball topped UC Davis by a final score of 7-6 in 10 innings. The Broncos are now 10-28 overall while the Aggies are 15-23.

The Broncos return to the field on Fri., April 26 at 6 p.m. for the first game of a three game series at Saint Mary's.

"It's amazing to get a win, especially in walk-off fashion," said the hero of the night Casey Munoz. "We had some weird quirks throughout the game but we came out on top and it was exciting. I really wanted to hit a fastball but I saw a slider and my eyes lit up as I swung over top of it. I knew the next pitch would be a slider because I missed the previous one so badly and I was sitting on it."

Peter Hendron (0-1, 8.25) started for Santa Clara and got a no-decision in 2.1 innings. Max Deering (2-4, 4.17) picked up the win on his birthday with 4.0 innings out of the bullpen. Hendron allowed four runs on five hits with two walks and no strikeouts. The offense was led by Munoz who was 4-5 with a double and 4 RBI, including the game-winner. Justin Gisch was 3-5 with a triple and two runs scored in his first career three-hit game while Greg Harisis was 2-5 with a run scored.

Spencer Henderson (1-0, 5.08) started for Davis and got a no-decision in 3.0 innings. Henderson allowed four runs, three earned, on five hits with three walks and one strikeout. Craig Lanza (0-1, 3.42) picked up the loss in 2.0 innings of relief. The offense was led by Steven Patterson who was 3-5 with a double and a RBI. Austin March was 1-3 with a double and two RBI while Cameron Olson was 1-3 with a double, a run scored and a RBI.

Justin Viele led off the bottom of the first with a walk and Gisch followed with a solid single to right field. Three pitches later Santa Clara pulled off a double steal before Zach Looney walked to load the bases and bring out the Aggies pitching coach. Harisis grounded into a double play but a run came across and Munoz followed with a sharp grounder to first that took a bad hop for a hit that made the score 2-0.

Nick Lynch singled up the middle with one out in the top of the second. Olson followed with a double to right center that one-hopped the wall to bring in a run. Austin Logan followed with a four-pitch walk that brought out Santa Clara head coach Dan O'Brien for a mound visit. After O'Brien retreated to the dugout, Hendron attempted a pick off at second but the throw hit the runner and went into centerfield to allow both runners to move up. March doubled to right over a leaping Ben Wright at first to give Davis the lead at 3-2.

Jose Vizcaino, Jr. walked with two down and stole second. Viele hit a pop to right field that the wind got a hold of and fell for a RBI triple to tie the game.

John Williams led off the third with a single up the middle but was thrown out trying to advance on a pitch in the dirt. Paul Politi followed with a walk and Hendron was lifted for D.J. Zapata. Patterson clubbed the first pitch he saw off the wall in center for a RBI double. Patterson tried to go to third but was thrown out. Lynch was hit by a pitch but a popup to catcher ended the inning.

Harisis singled to first with one down in the bottom of the third. Munoz flared a ball to right for a hit and Harisis followed with a steal of third to put runners on the corners. On and odd play Harisis came in to score on a grounder to third. The third baseman looked Harisis back to third while Munoz was on the move to second, but threw the ball over the first baseman. Munoz misread the play and headed back to first where he was tagged out, DeMerritt advanced on a balk with C.J. Jacobe at the plate but was stranded.

Justin Gisch tripled off the left field wall to start the bottom of the fifth. Looney struck out swinging but reached first on a dropped third strike. Harisis went down swinging for the first out of the inning. Looney swiped second and Munoz singled up the middle to break the tie.

Barker tripled to right on the first pitch of the seventh and Jake Steffens was replaced by Deering.  Williams grounded out to short to cut the deficit to one at 6-5. Politi followed with a single to right and Patterson reached on an error by DeMerritt at second on a could-be double play ball. The bases were loaded when Lynch was hit by a pitch. Mike Mazzara pinch hit for Olson and grounded out to second but the tying run came across. Matt Ozanne ran down a ball in right center field to save two runs and end the inning.

Munoz reached first on an error by the shortstop to start the bottom of the eighth against new Aggie's pitcher Lanza. Drew Ozanne pinch hit for DeMerritt and laid down a perfect sacrifice bunt. Jacobe grounded out to advance Munoz to third with two outs but T.J. Braff went down looking to send it to the ninth with the score tied at 6-6. 

Looney walked to start things in the bottom of the 10^th for Santa Clara. Harisis squared around to bunt but pulled the bat back and singled up the middle. Munoz doubled to left to knock in the winning run and give Santa Clara the win.
