Meet the Future of Bronco Baseball: Tyler Alev

SANTA CLARA, Calif. – With an eye to the future, Santa Clara baseball introduces Tyler Alev of Catalina Foothills High School in Tucson, Ariz.

"I chose Santa Clara for its Division I baseball opportunity and its unprecedented coaching staff," said Alev. "Their vision of what they want to build and how they want to build it was unlike any other coaching staff or school I had ever interacted with. It offers a great scholastic and athletic balance, which was of great importance to me in the recruiting process. It also has a great support base, which I know I will always be a part of."

As a senior Alev hit .408 with two home runs, 20 runs scored and 21 RBI while posting an on-base percentage over .500 and was a team captain.

As a junior he hit .372 with 10 doubles and 19 RBI while posting a .966 fielding percentage.

His sophomore year Alev hit .273 with nine stolen bases, two home runs and a 1.000 fielding percentage. His team was the third place team in the State 4A playoffs.

As a freshman Alev was part of the 4A State runner-up team.

He also played the 520 Elite Junior Olympic West Region third place team and was a member of Bryan Huie's White Sox Scout Team. For the White Sox scout team Alev hit .423 with two home runs.

Off the field Alev was part of the National Honor Society and Tucson Community of Athletes, Leaders & Scholars (TCALS). He was also a Habitat for Humanity volunteer and volunteer coach.

In his free time Alev enjoys hunting, fishing and skiing.
