SANTA CLARA, Calif. – With the season finishing this weekend, Santa Clara baseball had two players named to the West Coast Conference All-Academic team on Friday. Junior Zach Looney was honored for his 3.31 GPA in Civil Engineering while junior Peter Summerville was honorable mention.
Santa Clara wraps-up the season with three games at LMU May 17-19. Games times will be 3 p.m., 2 p.m. and 1 p.m.
"I am very proud of these two guys for getting it done in the classroom during a tremendously rigorous college baseball season," said Santa Clara head coach Dan O'Brien. In 45 games, including 31 starts, he has scored 18 runs and driven in four while hitting four doubles, three triples and a home run to go with three stolen bases. In WCC play Looney leads the team with a .288 average. It is the second consecutive year Looney has been honored.
