Bronco Baseball Players Cap-Off Successful Seasons of Summer Ball

SANTA CLARA, Calif. – Despite the season being over, many Santa Clara baseball players are still making their presences felt on the field in summer ball leagues across the country. Three Broncos have been named all-stars in their respective leagues, with two helping lead their teams to league titles.

Casey Munoz was an Alaska Baseball League All-Star and was Second-Team All-League while helping lead his Goldpanners to the ABL Post Season Tournament title. The Goldpanners beat the Pilots by scores of 3-2 and 2-1 in the finals.

Max Deering was named a Far West League All-Star for the Walnut Creek Crawdads. He tossed 29.0 innings and posted a record of 2-0 to go with a 3.10 ERA, third on the team. Deering showed his usual command, fanning 24 and walking just seven while picking up a save in four games, including two starts. 

D.J. Zapata was also named an All-Star in the Far West League. Zapata, pitching for the Menlo Park Legends, appeared in 12 games and made six starts. He threw 43.1 innings while posting a 3.53 ERA. Zapata struck out 43 and walked 18 while going 1-3 with a save. 

Kyle DeMerritt helped lead the Kansas Canons of the Walter Johnson League to the league title with an 11-8 win over the Topeka Golden Giants.
