Bronco Baseball Welcomes David Tufo as Director of Baseball Operations

SANTA CLARA, Calif. – Santa Clara baseball welcomes David Tufo as the Director of Baseball Operations. Tufo graduated with a BA in Economics from Willamette University in 2009 and is currently working towards his MS in Coaching Education from Ohio University with an expected graduating date of 2014. 

"Growing up a Bay Area native, I have always followed Santa Clara Baseball," said Tufo. "Being able to be part of Coach O'Brien's staff here at Santa Clara is an amazing opportunity. The environment that Coach O'Brien has created here is second to none. I am excited to learn from the rest of the coaching staff and am very fortunate to be part of a university and baseball program with tradition like Santa Clara University."

"David is a rising star in college baseball," said Santa Clara head coach Dan O'Brien. "Everyone I talked to mentioned his outstanding work ethic, but more importantly his strength in character. He will be a great director of operations, but also a solid fit on our staff of great people and a perfect fit in terms of our philosophy of surrounding out ballplayers with great humans. We are very excited to have Dave on board."

Tufo's previous coaching experience includes spending the last four years as an assistant coach at Menlo College where he worked as the team's infield coach. In 2013 Menlo was in the top-five nationally for fielding percentage with a mark of .970. In 2012 he helped produce the NAIA National Gold Glove Second baseman.

In of 2013 Tufo was the head coach for the Forest City Owls in Forest City, N.C. of the Coastal Plain League. In 2012 he was the Associate Head Coach of the Coastal Plain League American All-Star Team. From 2011-12 Tufo was the Associate Head Coach of the Fayetteville Swamp Dogs in Fayetteville, N.C.

Tufo was also the Associate Director of Cardinal Baseball Camps from 2009-11.
