Nick Medeiros Hopes to Come Out Strong in the Upcoming Season

Written by Kennedy Dinius '17

After appearing in 16 games last season, Nick Medeiros is excited to start his sophomore season on the baseball team. Despite the tough schedule ahead, Nick Medeiros believes the new and improved 2014 squad will be a great competitor in the West Coast Conference. Santa Clara Broncos (SCB) caught up with Medeiros to discuss the fast approaching season.

SCB: What has pre-season been like getting ready for the upcoming season?

NM: Our pre-season has been incredible. The entire team has been working relentlessly to fulfill our objectives. Everyone worked diligently over break which makes coming to practice everyday that much more enjoyable.

SCB: What are you most excited for this season?

NM: I am most excited to battle with my teammates. I haven't felt this confident in a team I have been a part of in a while. We have a tough schedule this year, but I think this particular team can beat anyone on any given day. I can't wait for February 14th, opening day.

SCB: What is something you have learned being a student-athlete here at SCU?

NM:  The obvious answer would be time management, which is very important. However, the most important thing I have learned is how to trust my team and our coaches on a completely new level.

SCB: Has the team made goals going into this new season?

NM:  We have not set specific goals as a team yet because we still have some things to figure out as a team. We will set specific goals coming up here soon before season. Winning ball games is always a priority for us.
