SANTA CLARA, Calif. — Today, Bronco baseball announces the 12th member of its incoming class of freshmen for 2014-15, Anthony Geremia. The outfielder currently attends Jesuit High School in Carmichael, Calif.
"Santa Clara has always been a school that I have thought about going to," Geremia said. "As a kid, I always loved going to the campus for all of my dad's football reunions. Most of all, I get to play my favorite activity — my true love — baseball."
As a junior in 2013, Geremia batted .260 and led the team in home runs while putting together a 22-game hitting streak. Jesuit went 21-8 overall and finished second in the Delta River League at 11-4 behind a pair of teams that went 12-3. Geremia and the Marauders also made the second round of the CIF Sac-Joaquin Section Division I Tournament.
"Anthony is a big, strong athlete, and we're excited to see how he develops," associate head coach/recruiting coordinator Gabe Ribas said. "He's a guy that is going to come in and fight for playing time right away, and I think that he's got a bright future in the program."
The 6-foot-1, 195-pound prospect also plays football for Jesuit High School, and led the team in tackles as a senior. As a sophomore in 2012, Geremia was named MVP of the Marauders JV baseball team.
Football runs in the family for Geremia, whose father Peter played at Santa Clara and grandfather Anthony played at University of the Pacific. Another relative, Frank Geremia, played football at Notre Dame.
Geremia intends to study business and history at Santa Clara, and his career goals include becoming an entrepreneur. He enjoys snow skiing, water skiing football and baseball. The soon-to-be Bronco is involved with Christian Service and Challenge Basketball outside of the competitive arena.
"I also love the campus environment of the school," Geremia said. "I want to go into business and Santa Clara has a great business program."
