Baseball Hosts UC Davis for Final Home Midweek Game Tuesday

SANTA CLARA, Calif. — Santa Clara baseball plays its final midweek home game of the season when it hosts the UC Davis Aggies for a 6 p.m. first pitch Tuesday night at Schott Stadium. The Broncos won two of three games against the Gonzaga Bulldogs last weekend to earn their first West Coast Conference series win since taking two of three games from the Pacific Tigers March 27-29.

Santa Clara and UC Davis meet for the second time in the 2015 regular season Tuesday. In the first midweek game of the season for either team, the Aggies defeated the Broncos 4-1 at Dobbins Baseball Field on Feb. 17, 2015. UC Davis won the only meeting between the teams in 2014 with a 3-2 victory over the Broncos at Schott Stadium as part of the Jack Gifford Memorial Tournament.

Last week, the Broncos dropped a 10-6 decision to Cal Poly at home on Tuesday, and began the series against Gonzaga with a 14-1 loss Friday. Santa Clara rallied for a 5-2 win Saturday and a 6-5 win on Sunday, which was also the 10th anniversary of Schott Stadium.

The Aggies enter the contest as winners of four straight games, including a series sweep at Pacific over the weekend. Three of the team's last four games and four of its last six games have been decided by a single run; their only one-run loss in that span was a 4-3 defeat in 12 innings at UC Irvine April 17.
