Baseball's Wilson Named WCC All-Academic Honorable Mention

SANTA CLARA, Calif. — Santa Clara baseball's Steven Wilson has been named a 2015 West Coast Conference All-Academic Honorable Mention, announced by the WCC Wednesday. At the conclusion of each athletic season, the WCC selects an all-academic squad for each WCC-sponsored sport. To be considered, a student-athlete must maintain at least a 3.20 cumulative grade point average, while also being a significant contributor to his team.

Wilson, an economics major with a 3.35 GPA, made 13 starts for the Broncos in 2015 and was the only member of the Santa Clara pitching staff used exclusively in a starter's role. The Littleton, Colo. native posted a 3-4 record with a 3.94 ERA on the year, and struck out 61 batters in a team-high 80.0 innings. He threw seven quality starts and allowed an earned run or fewer in four of those seven starts.
