WCC Release/Video

SANTA CLARA, Calif. — Following the conclusion of the regular season, five Santa Clara baseball players have been recognized as part of the All-West Coast Conference honors, announced by the WCC Tuesday. TC Florentine earned Second Team All-WCC recognition and John Cresto was named to the WCC All-Freshman Team.

Three more Broncos — Mitchell White, Max Kuhns and Tyler Meditz — each received an honorable mention.

Florentine made 48 appearances and 46 starts in his senior season and led the Broncos with 30 RBIs and 14 doubles. He started all 27 WCC games and hit .324 in those contests with 11 doubles, 21 RBIs and 15 runs scored.

Cresto made 49 appearances and 45 starts in 2016. He topped the Broncos with six home runs during first season with the team.

White fanned 118 batters to finish as the conference's regular season strikeout champion; he currently ranks fourth in the NCAA in strikeouts. White also led the WCC with 11.54 strikeouts per nine innings. The Bronco ace made 15 starts and struck out 15 more batters than the next-highest WCC pitcher.

Kuhns set a Bronco single-season record with 14 saves as the team's closer, a mark good for first in the WCC and fifth in the NCAA. He recorded seven more saves than the next-highest WCC pitcher and boasted a 2.21 ERA alongside a .192 opposing batting average.

Meditz made 46 appearances and 41 starts, topping the Broncos in slugging percentage in all games (.468) as well as WCC play (.543). He finished second on the Broncos in home runs (5), RBIs (26) and stolen bases (7). Meditz tied for the team lead alongside Florentine with 21 RBIs in WCC play.

The conference's five major awards went to five different teams:

Player of the Year: Jeff Bohling — Gonzaga

Pitcher of the Year: A.J. Puckett — Pepperdine

Freshman of the Year: Keaton Kringlen — BYU

Defensive Player of the Year: Nico Giarratano — San Francisco
