Meet the Future of Bronco Baseball – Kent Morrison

SANTA CLARA, Calif. – Santa Clara baseball announced the fifth member of its incoming recruiting class for the 2017-18 season, Kent Morrison. The right-handed pitcher currently attends Flint Hill School in Oakton, Virginia.

"I really fell in love with the campus and the student life at SCU," Morrison said. "The high level of academics really appealed to me. I also liked the winning attitude of the baseball program and the goals they want to achieve. I connected with Coach (Gabe) Ribas and look forward to working with him.

Morrison, at 6-2, 175 pounds, helped guide his high school team to a 20-5 record during the 2016 season and a trip to the semifinal of the 2016 Virginia State Championship. Morrison also showed his versatility and played shortstop during the 2016 campaign as he recovered from injury. He posted a .308 batting average and a .438 on-base percentage.

"We are very excited to add a hard throwing RHP to our pitching staff," associate head coach and recruiting coordinator Gabe Ribas said. "We truly believe that Kent is just starting to uncover how good he can be. He shows incredible upside with both his fastball and breaking ball, due to a long, loose, athletic delivery. "

Away from the field, Morrison is involved in DECA, FBLA, Huskies for Homeless and Kent's Foundation for Child Life at Children's National Medical Center. He aspires to be an investment banker aside from a career in baseball.

"Beyond his stuff, Kent is a competitor with an exceptional work ethic, who really desires to be great," Ribas said. "It's always great to get guys who want to come across the country to play here, and prove themselves in the highly competitive environment that we have in the West Coast Conference."

Our next future Bronco, Cade Negley, will be announced on Dec. 19.
