Baseball’s Brodt Named Rawlings WCC Player of the Week

SANTA CLARA, Calif. – The West Coast Conference announced its weekly baseball honors on Monday and Santa Clara baseball first baseman Jake Brodt was named the Rawlings WCC Player of the Week.

Brodt, a junior from Huntington Beach, California, played an integral role in SCU going 3-1 last week with each of those three wins coming in a road sweep of Pepperdine. Brodt recorded eight hits for the week and drove in seven runs, including a grand slam on Sunday in the top of the ninth inning to give the Broncos an 8-2 lead over the Waves. It was the first series win of the season for SCU and Brodt is the first Bronco to earn a weekly honor from the league this year.

Brodt and his teammates face No. 19 Arizona today at 3 p.m. PT at Stephen Schott Stadium.
